RPN Assists Connecticut With Environmentally Preferable Paint Contract

August 15, 2012

Source: RPN

RPN, with funding from NASPO and the U.S. EPA, worked with the State of Connecticut to develop comprehensive specs and a model contract for environmentally preferable paint products and supplies.

RPN evaluated the Connecticut's usage data to identify products purchased in high volumes; surveyed the state's key end-user departments; conducted benchmarking with other state and local governments; and researched availability, price, and performance of less toxic and recycled content paint and paint supplies.

The contract, which comes on the heels of Connecticut's paint product stewardship law, was recently issued and received an impressive six bids. Representatives from Connecticut were happy with the results, stating that "a solicitation of this quality would never [have] come to fruition without [RPN's] assistance."
