Wisconsin and San Antonio are each launching initiatives to push area manufacturers toward innovation and adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
RPN member Wisconsin plans to use $28 million it received under the American Recovery Act to reduce fossil fuel use in manufacturing by deploy renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies; and retool state businesses to enable them to produce components of renewable energy systems and energy efficient products; and investment in renewable energy projects.
San Antonio's pilot “Lean, Clean Energy” program--the first of its kind in the nation--is designed to help the business and operations of medium-sized manufacturers become more cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
