	California Green Purchasing Seminars The California State Association of Counties and the League of California Cities will host a series of green purchasing seminars throughout California. The workshops will feature RPN founding members from San Francisco and Santa Monica presenting case studies of their environmental procurement programs. RPN ally Scot Case, from TerraChoice, and others will provide introductions to responsible purchasing covering policy development and more. San Francisco Bans Bottled Water at City Offices
San Francisco’s Mayor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order prohibiting city departments and agencies from buying bottled water. Data show that 40 million gallons of oil are needed to make the plastic water bottles Americans purchase each year. In San Francisco, residents can purchase 1000 gallons of safe tap water for the same price as one gallon of bottled water.

	University of Florida Issues Sustainable Purchasing Directive The University of Florida issues a Sustainable Purchasing Directive aimed at supporting campus sustainability through procurement of products with minimal environmental and social impact. More
	Cities Reducing Greenhouse Gases The U.S. Conference of Mayors just released a survey highlighting proactive steps U.S. mayors are taking to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. More
	Energy Credits Now Required for All LEED Projects Energy performance requirements within LEED green building rating system increase by 14% as part of U.S. Green Building Council’s eight point Climate Change Agenda. All newly registered LEED certified projects must now. . . More
	Green-e Certifies Shell's RECs The Center for Resource Solutions announced that Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) offered by Shell Trading are now Green-e certified. Shell Trading joins the network of renewable energy providers who offer products certified by Green-e, the nation’s leading certification and verification program for renewable energy. More
